CLAT Seat Reservation Categories
The total seats in CLAT is divided based on category reservations. The different categories considered for the reservation of seats are given below.
If you secure a higher rank on the merit list, you will be given priority over other candidates.
• Scheduled Caste (SC)

• Other Backward Classes (OBC)
• State Quota for the applicants in which NLU is located NRI/Foreign National candidates
• Physically Disabled Candidates (PwD)
• Kashmiri Migrants

24 National Universities will participate in CLAT and the candidates after qualifying CLAT exam need to submit their fees as per the CLAT seat allotment at the time of admission.

FAQs
Q: Are NLUs government colleges?
A: Yes, all National Law Universities(NLUs) were established by an act of the state government. Therefore, all NLUs are BCI-affiliated and UGC-recognized state law universities.
Q: Can I get admission into NLU without CLAT?
A: All 24 NLUs, except NLU Delhi, accept the CLAT entrance test for Student Selection. If you seek admission to NLU Delhi, you will need to crack AILET.
Q: Are all NLUs good?
A: NLUs are the most prestigious Law Universities in India when it comes to pursuing Law education. All the National Law Universities are affiliated to Bar Council of India (BCI) and recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC). Therefore, as compared to other law schools in the country, NLUs are usually considered better. However, among all the NLUs, some of the Top 5 Nlis (as per NIRF rankings) as follows:
• NLSIU, Bangalore
• NLU, Delhi
• NALSAR, Hyderabad
• NLU, Kolkata
• GNLU, Gandhinagar
Q: Can I get admission in NLU without CLAT?
A: No. It may be noted that NLUs do not offer direct admission to students. To secure admission in 25 NLUs (out of the 24 NLUs) across the country, it is mandatory for candidates to appear for CLAT exam. However, for admission to NLU Delhi, candidates do not need to appear for CLAT. For seeking admissions in NLU Delhi you must crack AILET exam. It is mandatory to appear for either of the law entrance exams.
